Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Chairman of the National Council of the World Tatars Congress Vasil Shaykhraziev arrived on a working visit to the Republic of Belarus, where he was met by chairman of the Tatar-Bashkir Cultural Heritage Chishma Elvira Levshevich, director of the Tatbelelnefteproduct LLC Ildar Mubarakshin and Representative of Belneftekhim Alexander Kazachenko. We remind that tomorrow in Minsk there will be a meeting of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan R.N. Minnikhanov with representatives of the Tatar public associations of the Republic of Belarus. Vasil Shaykhraziev will be the moderator of the meeting.
Tatars in the Republic of Belarus began to be settled in 1319. According to the 2009 census, the number of Tatars in Belarus is 7316 people (according to unofficial data, more than 11 thousand).
Back in the 16th century, the Tatars of the Republic of Belarus lost their native language, began to use the Old Belorussian language, but preserved the Muslim faith. To date, the Tatars with the Belarusian language, there are more than 1,400 people. Tatars are in the top ten on a national basis.
There are nine mosques in Belarus today.
At present, Chishma TBKN is one of the most active public associations of the Russian diaspora in the Republic of Belarus, it closely cooperates with state structures: department of religion and nationalities of the Minsk City Executive Committee, the Republican Center for National Cultures, Commissioner for Religious and Ethnic Affairs, and the Russian Embassy in Belarus , Rossotrudnichestvo, Coordination Council of Russian compatriots, conducts the bulk of public events along the Tatar diaspora. The association is actively engaged in the promotion of Tatar culture in Belarus, contributes to the preservation of the traditions and customs of our people, carries out great work to perpetuate the memory of the Tatars who died for liberation of Belarus during the Great Patriotic War.
