The XX Kazan International film festival “Altyn Minbar” commences today

The XX Kazan International film festival “Altyn Minbar” officially opens its doors today. This prestigious forum will bring together filmmakers from 40 nations, presenting a diverse selection of over 140 films throughout its duration.

The opening ceremony will take place at 6:00 PM in Kazan City Hall. Preceding the ceremony, at 5:00 PM, the red carpet will be unveiled for the distinguished guests of the festival, including prominent directors, screenwriters, and acclaimed actors.

Among the anticipated attendees are Metin Gyunay, the director of “Risen Ertugrul” and “Osman”, and the chairman of the jury, as well as Chagrı Shensoy, an actor recognized for his roles in “Osman” and “The Magnificent Century. Empire of Kyosem”. The esteemed Lebanese actress Nadine Salameh is also expected to grace the event.

A constellation of Russian stars will adorn the red carpet, including Svetlana Kryuchkova, people’s artist of Russia and celebrated actress of theatre, cinema, voice-over, and dubbing, as well as Sergei Nikonenko, people’s artist of Russia, renowned for his contributions to theatre, cinema, directing, and screenwriting.

The opening night will feature three screenings of the Iranian film “In the arms of a tree”, directed by Babak Hadjepasha. Free screenings will be offered at the Mir cinema, as well as in open-air venues: the Presence of the Kazan Kremlin and the embankment of Lake Kaban.

The XX Kazan International film festival “Altyn Minbar” will run from September 6th to 11th, 2024. The festival’s motto, “Through the dialogue of cultures – to the culture of dialogue”, extends a global invitation through the language of cinema, fostering friendship and cooperation among representatives of all nationalities and religions.

It is noteworthy that the “Altyn Minbar” festival has earned recognition as a film project supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The Kazan International film festival is organized under the patronage of Rustam Minnikhanov, Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, and the Ministry of Culture of Russia, and in collaboration with the Russia-Islamic World strategic vision group.
