A bust of Kazakh poet Abai Kunanbayev was unveiled in Kazan on Nazarbayev Street. Aida Balayeva, the Republic’s Minister of Culture, attended the ceremony on behalf of Kazakhstan.
“This is a vivid visual representation of the enduring friendship, mutual understanding, and spiritual kinship between our peoples,” she stated.
Balayeva also noted that, in turn, a monument to Tatar poet Musa Dzhalil was erected in Kunanbayev’s birthplace.
Abai Kunanbayev was a poet, philosopher, and founder of Kazakh written literature. He was born in the Zhidebai tract, where Tatar intellectuals and merchants have historically played a significant role.
