As part of the festive events of the 25th Federal Sabantuy in Yakutsk, a flower-laying ceremony was held at the bust of Musa Jalil, Hero of the Soviet Union and prominent Tatar poet.
Among those who took part in the ceremony were: Vasil Shaykhraziev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan and Chairman of the National Council of the World Congress of the Tatars; Sergey Mestnikov, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia); Aydar Metshin, State Duma Deputy of the Russian Federation; Dilyara Malikova, Head of the Governor’s Office and Government of Primorsky Krai; Radmir Belyaev, Head of Nizhnekamsk District and Mayor of Nizhnekamsk; Danis Shakirov, First Deputy Chairman of the National Council and Head of the Executive Committee of the World Congress of the Tatars, as well as Deputy of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan; Ivan Kolesnik, Deputy Chairman of the Government of Omsk Region; and delegations of Tatar public organizations from various regions of Russia.
The laying of flowers served as a symbol of deep gratitude and respect for the memory of the poet-hero, who fell during the Great Patriotic War but forever remained in history as a symbol of courage, resilience, and the spiritual strength of the Tatar people.
The bust of Musa Jalil was officially unveiled on October 31, 2023. On that occasion, an official delegation from Tatarstan, led by Vasil Shaykhraziev, visited Yakutsk. The monument has become an important cultural and spiritual symbol for the local Tatar community and for all those who honor the memory of the great poet and fighter.
The bust was created by Venera Abdullina, an Honored Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan, Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Graphics and Design at the St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television. She is also a member of the Tatar Nobility Assembly of St. Petersburg and the St. Petersburg branch of the Union of Artists of Russia. In her work, the sculptor captured the image of the poet not only as a hero but also as a refined wordsmith whose literary legacy continues to inspire.
The ceremony became a meaningful highlight of the Sabantuy’s cultural program and a powerful reminder of the unbreakable bond between history, culture, and the spiritual values of the Tatar people.
