Today, the Islamic Cultural and Educational Center in the Zavolzhsky District of Ulyanovsk is hosting an “Open Doors Day.” Among the honored guests were the region’s governor, Alexey Russkikh, and Vasil Shaikhraziev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan and Chairman of the National Council of the World Congress of Tatars, who familiarized themselves with the center’s activities.
Under the leadership of well-known compatriot Rafael Nazmutdinov, the center hosts clubs for studying the Tatar language and religion, a section for Tatar national wrestling (Köräş), a children’s vocal group, and a chess club. The center also houses the I. Khannanov Museum, dedicated to the heroism of the Gostomel landing operation. For the Muslim community, the center organizes Iftar, Eid al-Adha, and Mawlid celebrations. A Muslim kindergarten is also set to open soon.
Governor Alexey Russkikh and Vasil Shaikhraziev highly praised the work of the center.
“Wherever I go, I hold up as an example our compatriots living in the Ulyanovsk region,” noted V. G. Shaikhraziev, expressing his gratitude to Rafael Nazmutdinov for the comprehensive work of the Islamic Educational Center.
