April 26 – the birthday of the great Tatar poet G. Tukai , at 17.00 in the Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Musa Jalil opening ceremony of the ” Kazan – the cultural capital of the Turkic world – 2014″ to be held.

Kazan proposal to declare 2014 the cultural capital of the Turkic world first was sounded by the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov during his visit to the headquarters of TURKSOI during the visit to Turkey in May 2012. In September of the same year, the ministers of culture of Turkic-speaking countries, meeting in Ufa at the next meeting of the Permanent Council TURKSOI unanimously supported this initiative.

The ceremony will be attended by the Secretary-General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) Dusen Kaseinov and official guests of the member countries TURKSOI , heads of diplomatic missions of foreign states.

18.00 – Gala evening dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Union of Writers of the Republic of Tatarstan ( “Corston”).

April 26

09.00 Laying flowers at the monument G.Tukay ( the square G.Tukay and M.Jalil Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre).

13.00 Poetry festival at M.Jalil Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.

17.00 Gala evening in the M.Jalil Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater dedicated to the opening ceremony of the ” Kazan – the cultural capital of the Turkic world – 2014″.
