Extended session of the “Alliance of Tatars of Europe” to be held in Oxford

From    April 6 to 9 in Oxford (Great Britain)  an expanded session of the international association “Alliance of Tatars of Europe” will  take place. 44 delegates from 16 countries of Europe are invited to the event.

The agenda of the meeting is declared as “Continuity of generations as an important factor in preserving  cultural and historical heritage of the Tatars”. The delegates will consider issues related to the further consolidation of the Tatars living in Europe, the participation of young people in the issues of preserving and developing  Tatar culture, traditions, language, preserving  historical memory: monuments and burials of the Tatars who  died during the two world wars. It is also planned to discuss  preparation for the European Sabantui in Vilnius (Lithuania), the issues of holding an international competition “Europe of the world” in Budapest in 2018. An important place in the joint discussion will  the organization’s work plan for the period up to 2019.

Within the framework of the meeting, on the second day of work at Oxford University, a conference “Tatars in World History” will be held with  participation of scientists from the Institute of History named after Sh. Marjani of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan and specialists from European countries.

For the members  of a large forum, participation in a creative evening of the memory of the poet Ravil Bukharaev is envisaged.

According to the resolution of the extended  meeting of the international association “Alliance of Tatars of Europe”, held in Brno (Czech Republic) in April 2016, the Tatars of Europe starting since  2017 begin  implementation of a large multi-year project “Analysis and synthesis of  integration processes of the Tatars of Europe”. The project provides for  consideration of issues of the history of the Tatars, as well as holding  a sociological survey. The result of great work should be a book about the history and life of the Tatars living in Europe.
