In Tallinn, on December 13, the annual awards for successes in the field of integration took place. They have been awarded by the Ministry of Culture and the Integration Fund to those who help our society, on the one hand, preserve cultural diversity, and on the other, rally the people living in Estonia.
What is the best way to introduce Estonian people to the traditions of the Tatar people? That’s right, arrange a Sabantuy. More precisely – European Sabantuy. It was held last summer in the center of Tallinn, and today its organizers received a prize for introducing Estonian society to the culture of national minorities. It is said that 11,000 people visited Sabantuy. Tourists were very surprised.
“They were very interested in costumes, dances, and national food. They all asked what kind of holiday it was. There were a lot of local people. We wanted to show our culture not only to the Tatars, but also to the townspeople, ”said Maria Malysheva, Chairman of the Tatar Society of Narva, to the «Actual Chamber».
