The events in Tatarstan devoted to the 130th anniversary of the G. Tukai, which will be celebrated in 2016, has been started by the Ukrainians of Nizhnekamsk, throwing an invisible bridge from the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Ukrainian Poet Taras Shevchenko, which was widely celebrated in 2014.

Preparing for the contest lasted for about 6 months. Developing provisions , we made conditions more complex, and increased requirements for participants because the main objective was honoring national literary classics of the two nations. Tukai’s poems should have sounded in the Tatar language, and poetry Shevchenko – in Ukrainian. Reading in the original language ought to emphasize the beauty of the work, while improving children’s interest in literature and expand knowledge of children about enlighteners of national cultures.

Since December 2014 a hard work has been going on preparation of the contest, contestants, attracting assistants, coordination of current issues.

March 21, 2015, several important event coincided: that day, the day of the vernal equinox, all Muslims of the world celebrated the Nowruz – the arrival of spring and the renewal of nature. This day is World Poetry Day and the Year of the literature is doubly symbolic.

Applied for reading poems and drawing competition 154 participants from different towns and regions of Tatarstan and neighboring republics. They were accompanied by 48 teachers, educators and parents, 12 jury members worked and more than 20 organizers were involved.
