Day of national cuisine took place in the MGIMO. The event, which is held for the sixth year, was attended by about a thousand students from various Moscow universities, as well as representatives of foreign embassies, authorized representative of the RF subjects and media.
Tatarstan at this festival was presented by MGIMO Tatar club.
The exhibition – presentation gave the opportunity to familiarize with cuisine and unique culture of the peoples of Russia and 33 foreign countries. Tatar table was decorated by dishes and sweets such as manty, ochpochmak, chak-chak, kosh tele and others. The stand of Tatar club included photographs, paintings, porcelain items depicting sightseeing of the republic and national patterns, also booklets and magazines about Tatar culture, history and cooking.

About MGIMO Tatar club
In 2008, upon the initiative of Tatar students from Tatarstan, Sverdlovsk region, Moscow and other regions of Russia, with support of honorary member of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences, Professor of MGIMO A. A. Akhtamzyan and Associate Professor of MGIMO I.A. Akhtamzyan, the Tatar MGIMO club was established The main objectives of the Club are setting links among the Tatars and descendants from Tatarstan, popularization of the Republic of Tatarstan, its culture, history and people, development of creativity among the club members and support in academic activities.
Over the five-year history of the club, it has already held more than 30 events, of which particularly stands out participation and organization of annual holiday festivals devoted to the Day of National Unity and Nauruz in where Tatar Club traditionally represents culture, lifestyle and cuisine of our nation. In addition, annually, it holds lectures on history of the Tatars and Tatarstan involving MGIMO teachers and specialists from other Russian universities. The assets of the Tatar Club include such a successful events as presentation of the XXVII World Summer Universiade 2013 in MGIMO, recital dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the birth of Musa Jalil, a photo exhibition “1000 worlds of Kazan”. Tatar Club also regularly participates in the “Days of MGIMO international cuisine ” and the activities of the Tatar national-cultural autonomy of Moscow, supports sports teams from Tatarstan during the games in Moscow and Moscow oblast.
Today, 29 persons from Tatarstan, over 50 Tatars from other regions of Russia and CIS countries are trained at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the RF MFA, many of whom are involved in the activities of the Club.
