It is known that the Tatars have been living in the southeast of the modern Nizhny Novgorod region at least since the beginning of the 17th century. Many archival documents have been preserved thanks to which you can find information about your relatives and ancestors during the reign of Peter I and Alexander II, during the Crimean and Napoleonic wars; in which you can find out the names and dates of the life of ancestors for 10-12 generations, find documents in which great … great-grandfathers receive land in the 1600s in a particular village, restore the family signature – Tamga, find out how much the mahar paid the ancestor to the bride. Moreover, most of the documents necessary for compiling a genealogy were purchased from the archives of Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Ulyanovsk, Ufa, Arzamas and others. All documents are posted in the public domain in the “Genealogy of the Nizhny Novgorod Tatars” community, which anyone can use.
