On 2 June the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov paid a working visit to Kirov region where together with the Governor of the region Aleksandr Sokolov he took part in the regional Sabantuy in the Village of Kalinino.
The Rais and the Governor started their walk round the festive site by visiting the Tatar homestead prepared by Baltasi region of Tatarstan, where they looked round a model of a Tatar village, the exhibition of Tatar crafters and a master class in the Tatar cuisine.
Speaking at the ceremony of opening the holiday, Aleksandr Sokolov emphasized that the Vyatka region has historically established strong and good relations with Tatarstan. “Today at the hospitable land of Kirov we are celebrating a wonderful holiday of Sabantuy which symbolizes the end of spring field work and unites working people of various religions and ethnic groups. We all together – Russians, Tatars, Mari and Udmurt enjoy this holiday. Today we have remarkable guests – a delegation from Tatarstan headed by the Rais of the republic Rustam Minnikhanov. We have set up good neighbourly relations and in the future will have new common deeds I hope. Cooperation in economy, transport and construction infrastructure and culture are all for the good of development of Tatarstan and Kirovo region.”
In his turn Rustam Minnikhanov stated that cooperation with Kirov region has been developing for many years already and both regions are reliable and responsible partners having much in common. “It is a great honor for us to be present at the regional Sabantuy. I am grateful to Aleksandr Sokolov, his team, the administration of Malmyzh region of Kirov and Baltasi from Tatarstan and all those who took part in organizing such a beautiful holiday. Sabantuy is a common holiday for representatives of various religions and nationalities. And of course today when our country is going through difficult times, we are demonstrating that no matter what our nationality and religion are, we are together. There is no doubt we will win,” he said.
The Chairman of the National Council of the Tatar World Congress Vasil Shaykhraziev, who is Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan, announced that in 2025 Kirov region will host the All-Russia rural Sabantuy.
At the ceremony, Rustam Minnikhanov and Aleksandr Sokolov also signed an agreement on adjustment of position of the borders between Kirov region and Tatarstan and approved a plan of actions for 2023-2027 on implementation of the agreement on trade-economic, scientific-technical and social-cultural cooperation
Having watched horse races and national games, Rustam Minnikhanov looked round the industrial grounds of Prior Company, specializing in manufacture of metalwork and ventilation equipment and construction of agricultural and industrial facilities, where the head of the enterprise Rashid Khaliullin told about cooperation with Tatarstan partners, in particular with famers from Tyulyachi and Alekseevsk regions.
