30 years ago, the first congress of the World Congress of Tatars took place, which marked the beginning of a great work to preserve the language and culture of the Tatar people. This was stated at the plenary session by the State Counselor of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev.

“It is important that the Tatars gathered for the first congress with great zeal. The first congress of the World Congress of Tatars lived up to all its expectations,” said Shaimiev.

He especially noted the merits of the first head of the executive committee of the World Congress of Tatars, Indus Takhirov, emphasizing that only a smart, wise and strong-willed person can start such a business.

In his speech, Shaimiev also recalled the great work – the 7-volume academic publication “History of the Tatars”. According to him, the publication of this scientific work has become an important event not only for the republic, but for the whole world. Shaimiev thanked the entire team of authors, headed by the first director of the Institute of History. Marjani AS RT Rafael Khakimov, for their great work.

“We have history. It is published in seven volumes. Despite this, we must continue this work,” he stressed.
