Today, the plenary session of the VIII Congress of the World Congress of Tatars is being held at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Center. The event is attended by the State Counselor of the Republic of Tatarstan, the first President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Sharipovich Shaimiev. He addressed the congress delegates and honored guests.

– The First World Congress of Tatars has become a good example for other republics. The executive committee elected by the Congress became an authoritative, national public center. At the first meeting, I said that the congress should unite all the Tatars living on earth, it should be able to officially speak on behalf of the Tatars and have great powers. For 30 years, the congress has been continuously working in this direction, Mintimer Shaimiev noted.
