The exhibition “The noble family of the princes Yusupov” has opened
On July 26, 2022, the exhibition “The Noble Family of Princes Yusupovs. Oriental Suite” from the collection of the Arkhangelskoye Estate Museum. The exhibition features more than 400 exhibits, many of which are exhibited for the first time.
The exhibition project shows the role of the famous Yusupov princely family, which traces its lineage back to the caliphs’ associates of the 10th century, in the history of Russia, and reveals its contribution to the economic and cultural development of the country. Today, monuments and collections associated with the Yusupovs are included in the golden fund of the national cultural heritage.
Damir Natfullin, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, delivered a welcoming speech at the opening of the exhibition: “This is an opportunity for all of us – residents of Kazan and Tatarstan, as well as tourists – to become witnesses of a unique project. It is a great honor for us to host an exhibition of one of the largest federal museums. I am sure that the exhibition dedicated to the famous family of the Yusupov princes, who made a great contribution to Russian culture, will be a success with the audience.”
First Deputy Director of the Arkhangelskoye State Museum-Estate Amulanga Uchurova spoke about the concept of the exhibition: “We were able to work well on the concept and on the artistic solution of the exposition: it turned out to be a traditional classical exhibition with a subtle oriental flavor that corresponds to the culture of Tatarstan. The exhibition presents 450 items that represent almost the entire collection of the museum – paintings, sculptures, arts and crafts, rare books, graphics and photographs. These are original materials that allow us to trace 5 centuries of development of the princely family, which served for the glory of the Fatherland.”
Director of the Autonomous non-profit organization for the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage “Russian Cultural Routes” Vera Volnova noted the importance of the exhibition for the cultural life of Kazan and Tatarstan: “I hope this wonderful exhibition composition will become a notable cultural event in the life of Kazan, and visitors will discover a lot of new things here and interesting things from the history of our multinational Fatherland.
The audience will get a lot of positive emotions, because the exposition turned out to be very beautiful.”
Alfiya Rakhmatullina, Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, shared her emotions from the exhibition: “For many years I dreamed that an exhibition with such a theme would take place on Kazan soil. Thinking about this exhibition, we wanted to invite guests to the kind home of the Yusupovs. Feats of arms, service to the Fatherland, warm relations in the family – all this visitors will see in the space of the exhibition hall “Manege”.
The director of the Museum-Reserve, Ilnur Rakhimov, spoke about the established good relations with the Arkhangelskoye Estate Museum: “The Arkhangelskoye Estate is not just partners for us, but in some moments it is our senior comrades, from whom we constantly learn. We are very pleased that this is not the first project we are implementing together with our colleagues.”
For the guests of the opening ceremony, a musical program was performed by the laureate of international competitions, pianist, composer Dmitry Myachin.
The exhibition will run until September 11, 2022.
