“We are very grateful to Kazan for the fact that today it has become the cultural capital of Russia,” Sergey Kolomiytsev, director of the Creative Union of Artists of Decorative and Applied Art, gave this status to our city. These words were said yesterday, on the opening day of the Festival of Folk Art and Decorative and Applied Arts “Lifestyle – Cultural Code”. Ethno-Fashion is confidently gaining the position of a traditional event, and although it is held in Tatarstan only for the second time, its scale has expanded to international. More than 300 organizations of folk arts and crafts, masters of arts and crafts, artisans, designers, fashion designers, creative associations from all regions of Russia, as well as six countries of the CIS and Asia came to participate in the Festival.
From August 2 to 14, so many events will take place within the framework of the Festival that it is not possible to list them. Among them are educational business programs and performances, a conference with the involvement of Russian and international experts and buyers, panel discussions, trainings, creative laboratories, master classes, performances by popular ethnic music performers, fashion shows with the participation of the most recognized ethnic designers from all over Russia and from abroad.
But, of course, the most notable events will be the ethno-market “Lifestyle – Cultural Code” in the format of an exhibition-fair on Lake Kaban and the exhibition of arts and crafts “Heritage and Traditions” at the Khazine National Art Gallery.
This year the ethno market gathered more than 100 participants who will present traditional authentic models of folk art crafts. Author’s works were brought by enterprises of folk art crafts, and folk craftsmen, and artisans. Residents and guests of Kazan for the first time will be able to see and buy products of craftsmen from the Republic of Ingushetia, Chuvashia, Udmurtia, the Republic of Sakha, Yakutia, Chelyabinsk, Lipetsk, Ivanovo and Penza regions. The Republic of Bashkortostan, the Republic of Crimea, the Kirov, Kostroma, Saratov, Kursk, Kaluga, Orenburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kaliningrad and Ryazan regions are also among the 30 regions of Russia and neighboring countries.
