Preparations for the conference within the framework of the Volga Sabantuy-2023 have begun

On July 8, 2023, a Sabantuy on the Volga River will take place in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

As part of the Sabantuy on July 6-7, 2023, it is planned to hold the All-Russian scientific, practical, historical and local history conference “Tatars of the Middle Volga and the Oksko-Sursky Interfluve: history and modernity”, held as the II stage of the VIII All-Russian (Volga Region) Forum of Tatar local historians.

Holding Sabantuys in the Eurasian river basin has great historical traditions. Starting from 2017 to 2021, 5 Interregional Sabantuys were held on the Ik River. In 2017, the first Sabantuy on the Ik River was held in the village of Tyumenyak (Republic of Bashkortostan). In June 2018, the II-th Interregional Sabantuy was successfully held on the Ik River in the Aznakaevsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan. Then there was a tradition of holding a scientific and practical conference on the eve of Sabantuy.

On June 16, 2019, the III Interregional Sabantuy-2019 was held in Aktanysh on the Ik River. On June 14-15, the All-Russian Scientific and Practical, Historical and Local History Conference was held as part of the Sabantuy.

Due to the pandemic, no Sabantuy was held on the Ik River in 2020.

In June 2021 The All-Russian rural Sabantuy was held in the Muslyumovsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan. And as part of its preparation, historical and local history conferences were held on May 19-22 in Muslyumovo (Republic of Tatarstan) and Tuymazy (Republic of Bashkortostan).

A number of scientific and local history events related to the Tatars of the Irtysh River basin were held in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and the Omsk region (Omsk and Tara).

On September 9, as part of the I-th International Sabantuy on the Irtysh River, which took place on September 10, 2022, an International historical and local history conference was held.

On July 6-7, 2023, the II stage of the All-Russian Forum of Tatar Local Historians will continue in the Nizhny Novgorod region in the format of the All-Russian (Volga Region) scientific, practical, historical and local history conference “Tatars of the Middle Volga region and the Oksko-Sursky Interfluve: history and modernity”.
