Today residents of Kazan  are taking   take part in the ceremony of collecting gifts in Sabantuy.   At this  moment, a festively decorated horse, musicians and artists in national costumes stopped at Freedom Square.

The festive event was opened by the performance of the State Folk Music Ensemble of the Republic of Tatarstan. This was followed by traditional Sabantui games, such as running with an egg on a spoon, breaking a pot, and much more.

Head of the Executive Committee of the World Congress of Tatars Danis Shakirov made a welcoming speech. He said  that these days the national Tatar holiday is held not only in Tatarstan. “Already this weekend, within the framework of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of Kuzbass, the International Mining Sabantuy will take place,” said Danis Shakirov.

The gift collection ceremony will end on the square near the Tatar State Academic Theater.  after  G. Kamal, where a theatrical performance with performances of the best folklore groups of the republic will take place.
