RT President Rustam Minnikhanov in his annual address  to the Tatarstan parliament noted that at  the historical monuments of Tatarstan – Bolgar and Sviyazhsk – it was possible to revive spiritual life.

“Much has been done to revive the sacred places – not only were we able to recreate the historical monuments of ancient Bolgar and the island-town of Sviyazhsk and build modern infrastructure, but the main thing is to revive spiritual life here,” the President of the Republic of Tatarstan said.

Minnikhanov also thanked the Vozrozhdenye  Foundation, led by Mintimer Shaimiev and all the sponsors of these projects. Also, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan recalled the anniversary of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God and expressed hope that the eponymous temple would become one of the pearls of the republic.

“A landmark event in the year of the 440th anniversary of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God was the completion of the reconstruction of the Kazan Cathedral, today it is being painted. I am sure that in the near future the temple will become a place of attraction for pilgrims from all over the world, one of the pearls of the capital of our republic, ”concluded Minnikhanov.
