In an address    to the State Council of Tatarstan, President of the Republic Rustam Minnikhanov noted the particular responsibility of the organizers of the upcoming census of the Russian population in 2020 for the real reflection of the ethnic composition of the country.

– The dynamics of the national composition of the population of the republic will become an important subject of study during the census. Organizers should consider a  particular delicacy of their work. An accurate reflection of ethnic realities is needed, the president said.

Among the most important issues in the national policy of the republic, in addition to the ethnic self-identification of Tatarstan people, the president noted the issue of supporting  ethnocultural and linguistic diversity of Tatarstan. Among the main tasks, the creation of optimal conditions for supporting native languages ​​remains.

“The project of the state adviser of Tatarstan, Mintimer Sharipovich Shaimiev, dedicated to organization of multilingual educational complexes, has become important,” added Minnikhanov.
