The anniversary XXX Republican Festival of Youth and Young Adult Press “Altyn Kalyam – Golden Pen” will take place in Tatarstan from July 1 to 5.

Over 30 years, the project has become one of the republic’s key talent and educational media initiatives, opening the door to the profession for hundreds of young journalists.

This year, the competition is held in four stages. The application campaign began on May 14 and will run until June 12. Participants will then undergo a remote selection of their works, followed by an educational online stage featuring leading media professionals. The finale will be a summer festival in Kazan, where young journalists will enjoy workshops, lectures, practical sessions, and meetings with renowned figures in the profession.

The competition brings together participants aged 14 to 24. They can showcase their skills in print journalism in Russian and Tatar, television and video blogging, podcasts and radio, design and layout, SMM, advertising, and public relations. Separate categories are provided for student media and students from secondary vocational education institutions.

The main highlight of the anniversary festival will be a gathering of generations of “Kalyam alumni” – participants, winners, and mentors from different years. The organizers plan to bring together those who have gone through the festival school over the years and subsequently connected their lives with journalism and media. Meanwhile, part of the program remains a secret: the project’s authors promise participants several surprises, which they are in no hurry to reveal before the July festival begins.

The festival is organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, together with the Republican Agency for Press and Mass Communications “TATMEDIA,” the Union of Journalists of the Republic of Tatarstan, and the Tatarstan Republican Organization of the Russian Union of Youth.
