On October 30, in Moscow, at the Wall of Sorrow monument, the action “Memory Bell” was held. It was dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repression.
Flowers were laid by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan – Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Tatarstan in the Russian Federation Ravil Akhmetshin, employees of the Rep-office, representatives of the Tatar National Cultural Autonomy of Moscow.
They paid tribute to the victims of political repressions – laid flowers, struck the symbolic “Memory Bell”.
This is an annual event. It takes place in many Russian cities. In Moscow, the rally is held at the Wall of Sorrow memorial to victims of political repression.
The monument was opened on October 30, 2017 at the intersection of Akademik Sakharov Avenue and the Garden Ring. The opening ceremony was attended by President of Russia V.V. Putin
When paving the space around the monument, natural stone was used from various Russian cities associated with the period of political repression: places of mass executions, territories of the former camps, areas whose population was subjected to forced deportation.
A stone from the Republic of Tatarstan also became part of the monument.
