Aqeedah lessons begin at Kazan’s “Rizvan” mosque

Aqeedah (Islamic creed) classes have started at the “Rizvan” Mosque in Kazan. The sessions are taught by Aynaz Hazrat Zaripov, a master’s graduate of the Bulgarian Islamic Academy, and are based on the classical theological work “Aqeedah at-Tahawiyyah.”

This foundational text, written by Imam Abu Ja’far at-Tahawi, a prominent scholar among the salaf as-salih (righteous predecessors from the first three generations of Islam), outlines the core beliefs of the Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jama’ah, the mainstream Sunni Muslim community.

The book was authored during a time of rising sectarianism and the spread of misguided doctrines. In response, the Sunni scholars rose to defend tawheed (the oneness of God) and the teachings brought by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Relying on the Qur’an and Sunnah, they firmly rejected all forms of distortion and misrepresentation of the faith.

Imam at-Tahawi emphasized that this creed represents the true Islamic belief system, which every Muslim must adhere to in order to avoid spiritual ruin in the Hereafter.
