The summer book festival will take place in Kazan this June

On June 14–15, the capital of Tatarstan will host the Summer Book Festival, organized by the Center for Contemporary Culture “Smena.” The event will unfold across three venues: Black Lake Park, the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan, and the Smena Contemporary Culture Center itself.

The festival program will include a book fair, presentations of new book releases, meetings with authors, an extensive educational program, and special projects for children and teenagers.

The book fair will be the festival’s central event and will be held at the main site in Black Lake Park. From 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, visitors will be able to purchase books from federal and regional publishers without retail markups and meet with authors. Among the announced participants are the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, the Tatar Book Publishing House, Polyandria Publishing, and many others.

The educational segment of the festival will take place at two lecture halls in Black Lake Park. Prominent authors, scholars, cultural workers, and media managers will deliver lectures on literature, art, and culture. Additionally, book presentations supported by publishing houses will also be held, according to the organizers.

For young visitors, there will be activities organized by the “Smena Kids” studio, along with youth labs and workshops led by artists, photographers, musicians, and designers.

Most of the festival’s events will be free to attend. Participation in children’s master classes will require prior registration.

A detailed schedule of events and registration information can be found on the website of the Smena Contemporary Culture Center.
