Folk arts and crafts day held in Sydney

Last week, a celebration dedicated to folk artistic traditions took place at the Russian Club in Strathfield (Sydney).

The event opened with a large-scale exhibition of folk arts and crafts. On display were birch bark items, clay toys, Khokhloma painting, Gzhel, Zhostovo, Dymkovo toys, Palekh miniatures, matryoshkas, Pavlovo Posad shawls, and other examples of folk creativity. Each exhibit reflected craftsmanship and respect for cultural heritage.

The Tatar community in Sydney, led by Lilia Samigullina, presented a separate exhibition dedicated to the traditional crafts of Tatarstan. Two workshops were also held: a painting workshop by Chulpan Bayguzina and Mila Schultz, and a clay modeling workshop by Elmira Abuzarova and her daughter Sophia Higgins. The workshops generated great interest among guests, especially children.

Many participants took home handmade crafts and bright memories from the event.

Participants expressed gratitude to Alla Khlebakova and the management of the Russian Club for the excellent organization of the celebration and the opportunity to showcase Tatar national crafts.

The event took place in a warm and inspiring atmosphere.
