Kazan continues to accept applications for the youth festival of Tatar national culture “Yagyimly Yaz.” This year, declared the Year of the Unity of the Peoples of Russia, the organizers have expanded the program by adding a new category, “Dance of the Peoples of Russia,” as announced by Dmitry Khvostikov, Chairman of the Committee for Children and Youth Affairs.
The “Yagyimly Yaz” festival has become a hallmark of the capital of Tatarstan, contributing to the preservation of the language and national traditions. This year, applications opened on March 2 and will continue until April.
Every year, the project brings together more than a thousand participants competing in the categories of “Music,” “Choreography,” “Theater,” and “Fashion.” One of the most popular categories remains “Yagyimly Yazbike,” where girls aged 14 to 35 demonstrate their knowledge of the Tatar language and culture.
The new category “Dance of the Peoples of Russia” aims to highlight the country’s cultural diversity, allowing participants to present choreographic performances representing various ethnic groups.
The geography of the festival continues to expand: in addition to groups from Russian regions (Ulyanovsk and Kirov regions, Mari El, Chuvashia), performers from abroad, including Kazakhstan and China, also take part.
At the same time, the all-Russian project “Yaz Guzäle,” organized by Kazan State Power Engineering University, is taking place in Kazan.
It features participants from 16 regions of Russia competing in artistry, knowledge, and proficiency in the Tatar language. The final will be held on April 7 at the Karim Tinchurin Theater. Thirty finalists will perform on stage, ten of whom will receive special prizes, and one will be awarded the main title — “Yaz Guzäle.”
