The holy month of Ramadan in the Republic of Tatarstan was marked by the annual charitable marathon “Ramadan – Month of Good Deeds.” This traditional campaign, initiated from the very first day of Ramadan by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan (DUM RT), is aimed at supporting those in need.
This year, within the framework of the marathon, the Zakat Charity Fund of DUM RT covered medical treatment and rehabilitation courses for 48 seriously ill children and provided financial assistance to 55 adults. The Fund also supported mosques and madrassas: the Muhammadiya madrassa received 1 million rubles, and seven mosques and madrassas were provided with a total of 764,000 rubles. All funds, totaling 9,922,000 rubles, were collected through targeted donations, as well as fitr and fidya sadaqah. Through online channels, the Zakat Fund received 2,189,221.39 rubles in fitr-sadaqah and 1,252,007.09 rubles in fidya-sadaqah.
Another important direction of the charitable marathon was providing food assistance to needy families in Tatarstan. Over the month, the Zakat Fund supplied more than 500 low-income families with food totaling over 5 tons, with an average weight of each package exceeding 10 kg.
In addition, using its own and sponsor funds, the Fund organized 50 charitable iftars, attended by 2,500 fasting participants.
Unique one-time charitable initiatives also took place during Ramadan: at the Eget barbershop, free haircuts were provided to 10 children from large and low-income families, as well as children with special needs. On February 27, for the fifth time in honor of Ramadan, a charitable bus route No. 30 operated in Kazan. This route was chosen for its length and high passenger traffic, often carrying beneficiaries of the Fund. This year, 1,200 passengers rode the bus free of charge.
As a result, in 2026, a total of 3,113 people in need received assistance through the charitable marathon “Ramadan – Month of Good Deeds” by the Zakat Fund.
