Kazan Hosts “The Hay Bazaar” festival

On August 24, Kazan once again welcomed guests and residents to a vibrant event – the “The Hay Bazaar” festival. This year marked its 12th edition.

The festival was dedicated to the Year of the Family, featuring master classes on creating family trees, a lecture on the family traditions of the Tatars from the early 20th century, an exhibition of wedding photographs, and even speed dating. In celebration of the Year of the Family, the festival organizers announced a flash mob titled “Tuy kulmege” (“Wedding Dress”). Participants were invited to submit wedding photos of their parents or grandparents, as well as contemporary images showcasing brides and grooms in national attire.

Additionally, the festival showcased the works of modern Tatar designers, artists, chefs, musicians, and other representatives of creative industries. Alongside Tatar designers, members of the Bashkir community also participated, a tradition that has become a hallmark of the event.

The festival concluded with a screening of Ainur Askarov’s feature film “Family of the Year”, followed by a concert featuring contemporary Tatar music. Performers included Radif Kashapov, Musa Gayanov, Al Su, Elina, Azat Gimadiev, and Lunami.
