Andrew Karginov, representing Naberezhnochelninsky team Kamaz – Master has won the Dakar – 2014 in a truck class. Before the lap, which finished in the Chilean Valparaiso, a Russian Karginov had a lead of seven minutes ahead of Dutchman Gerard de Rooy (Iveco).
However, the Russian machine faced big difficulties on the 13th stage when it lost much time because the Chinese crew blocked Karginov on a section of the race. Loss was about 9 minutes. Then, de Roy managed to pass before blocking the route and took the lead.
However, after the finish of the race, organizers decided to bring back the lost time – this was enough for Karginov to gain victory in overall standings. De Rooy was second , behind Karginov, by 3 minutes 11 seconds. Third overall ranking was the crew of Eduard Nikolaev (” KAMAZ-Master “). Dmitry Sotnikov and Anton Shibalov, advocating also KAMAZ- Master, took fourth and fifth places.
After today’s victory KAMAZ-Master has become a 12- time winner of the transcontinental supermarathon Dakar.
