Today, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan and Chairman of the National Council of the World Congress of Tatars, Vasil Shaykhraziyev, arrived in the Gafuri District as part of his working trip to the Republic of Bashkortostan. The official delegation was welcomed by the head of the district, Vener Vakhitov.
The visit focused on exploring the history and cultural heritage of the Gafuri District. This region is the homeland of the outstanding writer, poet, playwright, folklorist, and classic of Tatar and Bashkir literature — Mazhit Gafuri. In July 2024, the region widely celebrated the 145th anniversary of his birth.
Vasil Shaykhraziyev visited one of the district’s main landmarks — the Memorial Museum of Mazhit Gafuri. The delegation learned about the life, creative work, and literary legacy of the author, whose oeuvre embodies the idea of friendship between peoples. At the museum, the Chairman of the National Council left an entry in the guest book and presented an edition of Mazhit Gafuri’s works published by the “Jyuen” Foundation in Kazan in 2021 as part of the “Shakhеslәr” series.
During the visit, Vasil Shaykhraziyev laid flowers at the bust of Mazhit Gafuri and emphasized the writer’s significant role in strengthening the unity of Tatar and Bashkir cultures. According to him, the legacy of Mazhit Gafuri is a spiritual treasure of the two brotherly peoples, and its study and promotion are a shared responsibility.
The working trip continued with discussions on expanding cultural projects and enhancing interregional public and humanitarian cooperation in the Gafuri District.
