The “Real Time” talked to the winner of the contest “Tatar Kyzy – 2018” Dilyara Gilmutdinova. She told about why she left Nizhnekamsk for Udmurtia, about the friendship of the Tatars and the Udmurts, and about the “lip-synch ” at “Tatar Kyzy”.

“I like Tatar songs most of all”

– Tell us about yourself. How old are you? Where do you come from?

– I am 23 years old. I am from the city of Nizhnekamsk. At the moment I live in Izhevsk, studying at the Izhevsk Medical Academy in the sixth year of the medical faculty.

– Why did you decide to leave Nizhnekamsk? And why in Izhevsk, and not in Kazan, for example? There is also a medical school.

– I considered a lot of options. I filed documents in Kazan, and in Izhevsk, and in Yekaterinburg, and in Samara. I went to the budget department everywhere except Kazan. And I chose Izhevsk, because there is also a very strong, very famous medical academy.

– When you finish your training, do you plan to return to Tatarstan or stay in Izhevsk?

– In principle, now there are no such problems with employment. Doctors everywhere are not enough. I think there are places in Izhevsk too, if I want to remain a therapist. At the moment, I have not yet decided which narrow specialty to choose. Of course, I consider otolaryngology in order to narrow down to a phoniatrist. But for now these are only plans.

– What does the phoniatrist do?

– Looks vocal cords, treats singers, teachers, that is, those whose profession is connected with the voice.

– As I understand it, you also sing.

– Yes, I sing. I graduated from the musical and choral school “Dream” in Nizhnekamsk. But now in Izhevsk I am not engaged in professional music, because it takes a lot of time to study.

– What are your favorite songs?

– Most of all I like Tatar songs. Now there are a lot of young performers and young composers from Tatarstan. For example, Elmir Nizamov, Elmira Kalimullina, Ruzil Gatin, Gulnara Gatina. I like the classic, academic performance.

“We are all considered winners”

– How did the idea to participate in the contest “Tatar Kyzy” has come?

– In Udmurtia, it has been held for several years. I knew about this competition, students of our Academy participate very often. I wanted to participate for several years, and now I finally got together and decided. Our preparation lasts four months.

– What stages had to go through before reaching the final, to arrive in Kazan?

– At first we had a regional stage. At the regional stage there were also master classes on photo positing, on a defile, there was a culinary stage. At the needlework stage, we made elements of the Tatar costume – kalfak and izyu. Then we had an intellectual competition: we wrote an essay and answered test questions. And there was the final itself. For him we prepared dances, and each of us had our own creative item.

I have  won at the regional stage and, as a winner, went to the semifinals in Kazan. The semi-final was in the summer, at the beginning of August. We also had an intellectual competition there. The questions were very different – on Tatar history, music, culture. We  wrote an essay, guessed riddles – the intellectual stage was very interesting. We also had a culinary stage – we cut the noodles. At the handicraft stage, we decorated kalfak and made a shaving brush from goose feathers. These are the competitions that took place at the semi-finals, and out of 29 girls, there are 14 of us left, we went to the final. We are all considered winners, we were all given nominations.

– Did you probably have a creative number too?

– Yes, I sang a song by Elmira Nizamova from the opera “Black Chamber”, an aria of Nargiza.

I won at the regional stage and, as a winner, went to the semifinals in Kazan.

“We were speaking live to the microphone”

– In the final there were a lot of numbers. I understand that it was rather not even a competition, but a concert. We have some media wrote that mass songs and recitations were recorded in advance, and “lip-synch” was played on the stage. What was the reason?

– No, we spoke ourselves. We had a competition, where each told about their region. We all said it live in the microphone. Then we represented the image of a Tatar girl, we each had excerpts from poems, songs. We read them ourselves.

– If I am not mistaken, the “lip-synch” in question was in one of the last numbers with dances.

– Yes. The fact is that we had a drama room. At first we danced, and then in turn spoke on the proposal. There was a record there. Otherwise it would be inconvenient – each one needs a buttonhole and put it on, and turn it on, and buttonhole 14, this can all drag on. I think it would be technically difficult to align us. Plus there was a dance, we would have lost our breath.

– How do you generally live in Udmurtia? Are there any differences from Tatarstan? Maybe there are Tatar circles, diasporas?

-There are a lot of Tatars in Udmurtia – in Izhevsk and in Mozhga. There is even a Tatar village that has been famous for several centuries. In Izhevsk there is a youth organization “Iman”, the autonomy of the Tatars. Sabantuy, concerts of friendship of peoples, where the Tatars also take part, are held. Iman and I myself participated in many city events. We live very friendly with the Udmurts.
