In Dakar, in the “Vema” gallery, an exhibition of Tatarstan graphics opened, organized by the State Museum-Reserve “Island-City “Sviyazhsk” with the support of the Russian Cultural Center “Kalinka” of the Association “Alliance of Russian Culture” (Senegal).
More than 40 works by 6 artists are presented:
– Rabis Salyakhov , People’s Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan, a representative of the older generation, known in Russia as a painter, ceramist and designer of public spaces.
– Young and successful artists Sergei Tsarev, Leila Faizova, Svetlana Kiyamova from Kazan and Airat Yusupov from Naberezhnye Chelny represent the creative searches of youth based on a classical artistic basis.
– Maria Smolyaninova , a famous Moscow graphic artist, whose works are in the collections of major Russian museums, is represented by a series of works inspired by Sviyazhsk and other Russian cities.
The exhibition became possible thanks to the long-term cooperation of the state museum-reserve “Island-city of Sviyazhsk” and the Russian cultural center “Kalinka” of the Association “Alliance of Russian Culture”, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Senegal. Guests of the vernissage were greeted by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Senegal Dmitry Viktorovich Kurakov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Venezuela to the Republic of Senegal Alexandro Correra, the executive director of the Russian Cultural Center “Kalinka” Marie Christelle AZANLIN and others. Mr. Kurakov noted the importance of developing ties between Senegal and Russia and the special position of Tatarstan as a republic that combines the traditions of Christianity and Islam, with outstanding heritage sites and a dynamically developing economy. He called on the local business community to pay attention to the prospects of cooperation with our republic.
Mr. Ambassador of the Venezuelan Republic especially noted the works of Rabis Salyakhov, their deep national and traditional roots, and asked whether the animation studios of Tatarstan are working with this author, because he creates clear and deep images that can convey the soul and traditions of the people and convey them to the young generations.
