On December 17, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan and Chairman of the National Council of the World Congress of the Tatars, Vasil Shaykhraziev, met with members of Tatar public associations in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Vasil Shaykhraziev greeted his compatriots and spoke about his working trip, which included a wreath-laying ceremony and a meeting between the leaders of the two republics -Tatarstan and Azerbaijan. He also shared updates on the work accomplished during the “Year of Personality” and announced that the World Congress of the Tatars had declared 2025 as the “Year of the 80th Anniversary of the Great Victory and Peace”.
Currently, over 27,000 compatriots reside in the Republic of Azerbaijan. National and cultural needs of Tatar compatriots in Azerbaijan are addressed by the Azerbaijani Tatar Youth Center “Yashlek”, the Republican Society of Tatar Culture “Tugan Tel”, the public association “Tatarstan”, and the Azerbaijani branch of the Tatar Women’s Society “Ak Kalfak.”
Representatives of Tatar organizations actively collaborate with international and foreign organizations operating in Azerbaijan. Compatriots are regularly invited to government and non-governmental events, as well as to activities organized by other national organizations.
Vasil Shaykhraziev emphasized that Tatar public associations in Azerbaijan work as a united whole.
