Delegates of the 16th All-Russian Forum “National Identity and Religion” head to Bolgar

Today, May 17, delegates of the 16th All-Russian Forum “National Identity and Religion” set off for Bolgar.

The delegates will spend the final day of the forum in the ancient city of Bolgar, where they will take part in the ceremonial event “Izge Bolgar Zhyeny” (The Sacred Gathering of Bolgar). The ceremony will include the “Tauba” (repentance) ritual, as well as a collective midday (zuhr) prayer.

Background information: From May 15–17, the 16th All-Russian Forum of Tatar Religious Leaders “National Identity and Religion” is taking place in Kazan and Bolgar. The forum traditionally brings together imams, Islamic scholars, clergy, and public figures from all corners of Russia.

The event is attended by more than 1,000 delegates from 78 regions of the Russian Federation. It is the largest gathering of Muslim clergy in Russia, aimed at strengthening unity, exchanging experiences, and discussing pressing issues of Islamic life in a multinational country.

The forum continues the traditions of dialogue and interaction among the Muslim community, clergy, and state structures, contributing to the strengthening of the national identity and spiritual culture of the Tatar people.
