As is known, annually in the festive atmosphere of Mirzo Ulugbek Recreation Park in the capital, “Sabantuy” – a festival of friendship, labor, art, and sports of the Tatar and Bashkir peoples – takes place. This year, the festival was also widely celebrated in Tashkent on May 31.
In connection with this, on May 30, as part of the Sabantuy celebration, an open international tournament for men was organized at the Uzbek State University of Physical Culture and Sports, initiated by the International Koresh Federation (Tatar wrestling), the Asian Belbogli Kurash Confederation, the Belbogli Kurash Federation of Uzbekistan, and the National Wrestling Department of the UzSUPCS.
The competition, held on the university grounds, saw participation from wrestlers representing Russia, India, and Uzbekistan. Among the distinguished guests of the international tournament were Rashid Matkarimov, Rector of the Uzbek State University of Physical Culture and Sports; Rishat Nabiullin, Chairman of the Tatar Cultural Center; Sherzod Mirzanov, First Vice-Rector of UzSUPCS; Sardor Dastirov, General Secretary of the Asian Belbogli Kurash Confederation; and other officials.
Approximately 100 of the strongest wrestlers competed in weight categories up to 65 kg, up to 75 kg, up to 85 kg, up to 100 kg, over 100 kg, as well as in the absolute weight category.
Following the uncompromising bouts, conducted according to the rules of Tatar koresh, the winners in their respective weight categories were: Asadbek Khaydarov (Uzbekistan), Ilnar Zakirov (Russia), Dinar Karimullin (Russia), Zaylobiddin Ortikov (Uzbekistan), Ayrat Fatkhulin (Russia), and Ilfat Minnegaliyev (Russia).
The ceremonial awarding of the tournament winners took place at the Mirzo Ulugbek Recreation Park in the capital as part of the Sabantuy celebration.
