Navruz is a holiday of the spring equinox and the beginning of the new agricultural year for the Persian-speaking and some Turkic peoples of Kazakhstan, Central and Asia Minor, Iran, as well as among Bashkirs and Tatars. Navruz means “new day” in Farsi. It is celebrated on the day of the spring equinox – March 21. Navruz symbolizes the renewal of nature and man, purification of souls and the beginning of a new life.

The librarian introduced the guests to the history of the holiday, told how other nations celebrate this day, and introduced them to the customs and traditions of the holiday. An exhibition of national Tatar dishes was organized in the library. Navruz bikya – (Salakhetdinova Alsou) came to visit, and was greeted with chak-chak. Tatar games “Yashil Yaulyk”, “Jozek Salysh” and others were held. Many songs and dance numbers were performed. The holiday turned out very interesting and informative.
