Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Chairman of the National Council of the World Congress of the Tatars Vasil Shaykhraziev met with members of the Government of the Leningrad Region and St. Petersburg. The meeting was attended by the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tatarstan in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region Renat Valiullin.

According to the Chairman of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and the Implementation of Migration Policy in St. Petersburg, Oleg Kapitanov, the history of St. Petersburg cannot be considered separately from the Tatars. They have always lived there. Moreover, Tatar public organizations are actively working in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.

The Chairman of the Committee on Local Self-Government, Interethnic and Interfaith Relations of the Leningrad Region, Lira Burak, thanked the governments of Tatarstan and Bashkortostan for their support in holding national holiday Sabantuy.

Vasil Shaykhraziev and Renat Valiullin awarded the medal “100 years of the formation of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic” to the Chairman of the Committee on External Relations of St. Petersburg, Evgeniy Grigoriev and the Chairman of the Committee on Local Self-Government, Interethnic and Interfaith Relations of the Leningrad Region, Lira Burak.
