The 9th annual “Tatarcha Diktant,” a global Tatar language literacy campaign, will take place from November 8th to 10th.

The campaign aims to unite Tatar language enthusiasts, foster interest in literate writing, and promote knowledge of the literary Tatar language. The dictation is open to all.

For detailed information on registration, writing locations, and the online dictation, please visit diktant.tatar. Those organizing writing points need to register on the website, specifying their location. Participants taking the online dictation must also register, but those taking the paper-based dictation do not need to register.

Three levels of text have been prepared for dictation participants:

  • Difficult (for Tatarstan and Bashkortostan) – an excerpt from Sharif Kamal’s novel “Matur Tuganda”
  • Medium (for regions of the Russian Federation) – an excerpt from Gumer Bashir’s story “Tugan Yagym – Yashel bishek”
  • Easy (for foreign countries) – an excerpt from Mirsai Amir’s story “Agyidel”

Sharif Kamal (Baigildiev; 1884-1942) was a renowned writer, playwright, journalist, and Honored Art Worker of Tatarstan. This year marks the 140th anniversary of his birth.

Gumer Bashir (1901-1999) was a distinguished writer, folklorist, laureate of the Gayaz Iskhaki Prize and the G. Tukai State Prize, and People’s Writer of Tatarstan.

Mirsai Amir (1907-1980) was a prolific writer, playwright, prose writer, publicist, Honored Art Worker of Tatarstan, and winner of the G. Tukai State Prize.

For the first time, the dictation can be written in the Latin alphabet. The Tatar Grammar community has adapted a passage from the story “Agyidel” into the Latin alphabet, primarily for compatriots living abroad.

On November 8th-10th, at 10:00 a.m., TNV Tatarstan and TNV Planeta TV channels will broadcast a dictation reading featuring artists, public figures, and other notable individuals. The broadcast will be hosted by Gulnaz Safarova at the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan.
