The international scientific and practical forum “Preservation and development of languages and cultures” was held at the Institute of Philology and Arts of Kazan Federal University wa held.

The forum , which was held on October 16-19 , was attended by employees of the Executive Committee of the World Congress of Tatars.

In his speech at the grand opening of the Forum, Chairman of the Board of the World Tatar Congress Rinat Zakirov expressed concern about growing trend of closing Tatar schools, Tatar classes in the regions of Russia. He also noted that one of the main tasks of the WCT Executive Committee is to increase number of students from the regions coming to Kazan University, for obtaining specialties to enable them to teach in native Tatar.

The “round table” on ” Actual problems and perspectives of preservation and development of native languages and literatures,” was attended by First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the World Congress of Tatars Renat Valiullin and chief of department on work with organizations in the Republic of Tatarstan Danis Shakirov.

The forum concluded an agreement on cooperation between the Board of the World Congress of Tatars and the Institute of Philology and Arts of Kazan (Volga ) Federal University.
