Chief Mufti Gainutdin Meets with Head of the National Council of the World Congress of Tatars Shaykhraziev

Yesterday, a meeting was held at the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation between the Chief Mufti, Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, and the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Chairman of the National Council of the World Congress of Tatars, Vasil Shaykhraziev.

Summing up the results of 2025, the religious and state leaders described the year as productive and filled with important positive events. The parties outlined key areas of cooperation for the upcoming year 2026, which has been declared by Russian President Vladimir Putin as the Year of the Unity of the Peoples of Russia.

The outgoing year 2025 was marked by the 200th anniversary of the enlightener Kayum Nasyri and the 150th anniversary of the theologian Musa Bigiev, who are a source of pride and a great heritage of the Tatar people. A significant place in the national life of the Tatar people in 2025 was also occupied by the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. In particular, the anniversary of the Victory was dedicated to the 8th All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference “Gasprinsky Readings,” held on May 3–5, 2025, in Sochi, with the participation of Vasil Shaykhraziev.

In recent years, the joint organization of the Sh. Marjani Readings in Kazan by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation, the World Congress of Tatars, and the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan has become a good tradition and a model example of cooperation between religious, national, and academic institutions.

Mufti Gainutdin congratulated the head of the National Council of the World Congress of Tatars on the successful organization of the “Millät Jiyeny” (National Assembly) held in August, as well as the annual forum of Tatar clergy “National Identity and Religion,” which took place in May 2025.

One of the traditional areas of activity within the Tatar community, including Tatar-populated localities across various regions of Russia, is the production of halal food products. In this regard, working issues related to the development of the halal industry were discussed during the meeting.

Also taking part in the discussion were Deputy Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation, Head of the National-Cultural Autonomy of Tatars of Moscow Farit Farisov, and Deputy Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation and Managing Director Rafik Fattakhetdinov.
