The organizers aim to combine modern communication formats with Tatar traditions.

At the Sabantuy in Kazan on June 20, a special youth area for dating and socializing will open. The project has been prepared by the editorial team of the magazines “Idel – Idel” together with the City Culture Department.

The organizers want to revive one of the traditions of the national holiday. In the old days, young people would get acquainted at Sabantuys and aulaq öy, finding friends and starting families.

According to Aliya Zagidullina, Head of the Culture Department of the Kazan Executive Committee, the main goal of the project is to preserve national customs and adapt them for today’s youth.

Guests can look forward to speed dating, interactive zones, folk games, discussions about family and family values, a DJ set, and a fair of Tatar designers.

One of the main venues will be a short-meeting zone where participants can interact in a speed-dating format. There will also be a dating board: those interested can fill out a questionnaire, have a photo taken, and post information about themselves.

Visitors will also find a photo zone and traditional Tatar games, including “Yözek salış” (ring game), pair dances, and other activities.
