On March 14, Prime Minister of Tatarstan Ildar Khalikov met with compatriots, living in Canada, Toronto. The meeting was held in the office CBAREA ( Canadian Business Association in Russia and Eurasia ) where previously a round table was held with the participation of representatives of the Canadian business community and Tatarstan.

The meeting with Ildar Khalikov was attended by undergraduate and graduate students, studying in various Canadian universities, activists of Tatar communities of major cities in North America, compatriots , liaising with minor homeland.

“It’s nice that far from their historic homeland, Tatars were able to find each other, have united and made efforts to preserve the traditions, customs, native language and culture of the people,” – I. Khalikov said, welcoming the participants.

Tatarstan Prime Minister noted that Canada is an important economic and business partner of the Republic of Tatarstan, the representatives of the Tatar community – good helpers for the development of cooperation with this country . He also reminded that the republic has holds a sales representatives in the United States, and one of his objectives – ensuring closer ties with the Republic of Tatarstan, interaction with compatriots.

Ildar Khalikov said that especially for compatriots living abroad, a satellite television channel ” TNV – Planet ” is broadcasting. One of the objectives of the TV channel is to maintain Tatar language and national traditions, as well as the revival of cultural and spiritual values and interests of the Diasporas in Russia and abroad. 36 cartoons in Tatar language were loaded in the Internet.

RT Prime Minister recalled the work of online schools to teach the Tatar language “Ana Tele “, which is available 24 hours a day from anywhere in the world.

Compatriots living in Canada, in turn told that in Montreal and Toronto there are Tatar societies that unite Tatars, allowing them to maintain their identity, not to forget the national cuisine and language. Tatars living in Canada expressed the wish to organize the Days of Culture of Tatarstan in major North American cities.
