The children’s pop contest “Sailan”   has started on the SHAYAN TV channel a year ago, when about a thousand applications had been  received from young performers from 6 to 15 years old. All  the  children without exception could take part, each application was considered, the only condition is the performance of songs only in the Tatar language. The jury had a difficult task – to select the best. After listening, 30 guys got into the second stage of the festival. For two months, the channel’s website hosted an online spectator vote, according to which 16 contestants who received the most votes went to the semifinals.

On October 6 and 13, Shayan TV broadcasted two semifinal concerts. Each novice artist presented his creative number, which was preceded by a video visit  card about the performer.

The jury of the Sailan competition changes from program to program – many Tatar pop stars, representatives of the art world, journalists have the opportunity to become mentors for young performers and get acquainted with talents. Contestants took part in master classes in vocals, speech techniques, acting and the art of creating a stage image.

Among the star mentors were Zainap Farkhutdinova, Rishat Tukhvatullin, Aidar Suleymanov and soloist of the Tatar State Opera and Ballet Theater named after Musa Jalil, founder of one of the first Tatar rock bands “Alqanat” Arthur Islamov. In the process of working with professional artists, the guys received a lot of advice and worked on their programs during all the qualifying rounds.

In the final, the children are evaluated by a competent jury consisting of the most famous performers and popularizers of the Tatar song: pop diva Elmira Kalimullina, soloist of the Kazan City Philharmonic Society Rustem Asaev, modern Tatar composer Elmir Nizamov, singer and composer Zufar Khairutdinov, as well as pop singer Aisylu Gabdinova.

The Sailan festival can be watched on the SHAYAN TV channel on Sundays at 12.00 and 18.00. From October 20, the jury will begin to give participants points – sailens, which means “beads” in Tatar. From these points in conclusion, the show will add up a “pattern” – viewers will recognize the results of the Sailan festival on November 12, the birthday of SHAYAN TV.
