Tatarstan will take part in planning a cycle of federal and international events dedicated to the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukay in 2036. This was reported to Tatar-inform by Danis Shakirov, Head of the Executive Committee of the World Congress of the Tatars, commenting on the relevant decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“This decade [is for preparation]. And this date — 150 years — is very symbolic. There will be a cycle of events, systematic and methodical work at the federal and international level,” Danis Shakirov told a Tatar-inform correspondent.
According to the head of the Executive Committee of the World Congress of the Tatars, this cycle of events — still only being planned — will include the installation of monuments, literary evenings, scientific and practical conferences, and much more.
“Tukay is a consolidating symbol of all our enlighteners,” Shakirov emphasized.
As for the Gabdulla Tukay State Prize, by the 150th anniversary a separate set of regulations for the awarding of an international prize of the same name will have been adopted. The agency’s interlocutor clarified that the regulations for the international prize will be adopted well before the ten-year mark.
