In Orsk they plan to erect a monument to the classic of the Tatar literature Zakir Ramiev. This issue was discussed at the regular meeting of the Public Chamber.

Social activists called for the perpetuation of the memory of the poet. However, it is not known in what form. Will it be a memorial plaque at the entrance to the cathedral mosque or a monument in a Muslim cemetery, the issue to be settled in the near future.

Most of his life the poet lived in Orsk. It is in our city he spent his childhood, adolescence, and the last years of his life. Zakir Ramiev studied in madrassas of the first grand mosque. After studying for two years, he lived in Istanbul, where he took lessons of the Turkish language, writing poems, got interested in literature.

In the beginning of the century he inherited the gold mines in Orsk region district from his parents , where a total of more than 5 tons of gold has been washed and delivered to the state.

In 1906, Ramiev was elected State Duma deputy from the Orenburg province. The same year, in the newspaper “The Kazan Herald” his first poem “Address to the pen” was published under the pseudonym Derdemend that in Persian means “saddened”, “compassionate”. Later, Zakir Ramiev with his brother Mohammed Shakir founded in Orenburg newspaper and magazine, which published his poems.

Zakir Ramiev was known for charity. On the profits he published books of Tatar writers, maintained dozens of educational schools, patronized students, built mosques and madrassas.

After the October Revolution of 1917, the poet stayed in Russia. In 1918, power s in Orenburg passed into the hands of

the Bolsheviks. Newspapers and magazines ceased printing. Zakir Ramiev personally handed printshop to Council of Workers, Peasants and Soldiers’ Deputies. Older brother was already dead.

After that, having left in Orenburg his home, property, rich library, 59-year-old poet returned to Orsk, closer to his gold mines, which were also nationalized soon.

In the autumn of 1921 after a trip to Orenburg to the funeral of the deceased from typhoid eldest daughter Ummugulsum Zakir Ramiev seriously suffered typhus and died a week later. It happened October 9, 1921 in Orsk.

Tatar literature classic buried in the cemetery of the Cossack village Ilyas three kilometers from the city center, where usually famous people were buried. This village is now left in the center of the new town of Orsk. And in place of the cemetery in 1941, was built a defense plant.
