On December 6, the XIV Congress of Composers of the Republic of Tatarstan was held, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Union of Composers of the Republic of Tatarstan. The congress was attended by composers of Tatarstan, representatives of ministries and departments, as well as invited guests.

The congress delegates were greeted by the Minister of Culture of Tatarstan Irada Ayupova, noting the great contribution of composers to a cultural life of Tatarstan. After  greeting, the Minister of Culture handed in Letters of thanks to the members of the Union. The delegates were also welcomed by  head of the Department of Culture of the Executive Committee of Kazan Azat Abzalov and handed the gift certificate to the union. Member of the Council of the Union of Composers of Russia, chairman of the Union of Composers of Bashkortostan Leyla Ismagilova presented Letters of thanks  from the Union of Composers of Russia.

The congress continued with a report by the chairman of the Union of Composers of Tatarstan Rashid Kalimullin, who expressed gratitude to the Government of Tatarstan for supporting the Union’s projects.

Rashid Kalimullin called on members of the Union to maintain their successes and achieve even greater heights by implementing new projects. Rashid Kalimullin was unanimously re-elected Chairman of the Union of Composers.

The Union of Composers, which today unites more than 60 professional composers, for many decades has contributed to the development and enrichment of the musical traditions of the Republic of Tatarstan. Thanks to the work of the members of the Union, conditions are provided for  creating  highly professional works and  development of various musical genres. The Union of Composers takes an active part in spiritual and public life, holds concerts, festivals, competitions, conferences.

People’s Artist of Tatarstan and Russia Rashid Kalimullin successfully leads the Union since 1989. He is also Chairman of the Board of the Union of Composers of Russia.
