Sixty local historians took part in the All-Russian Forum

On July 8, the second stage of the VIII All-Russian Scientific and Practical Forum “Tatars of the Middle Volga–Sur-Oka Interfluve: history and modernity” took place. The event was held within the framework of the Volga Sabantuy.

The forum was attended by 60 local history scholars, teachers, representatives of public and religious organizations from 14 regions of the Russian Federation. Among them: Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation, Government of the Nizhny Novgorod region, World Congress of the Tatars, House of National Unity.

The moderator of the Forum was the head of the Committee for Work with Local Historians of the Executive Committee of the World Congress of the Tatars, Chairman of the Society of Tatar Local Historians of the Republic of Tatarstan, Professor Albert Burkhanov.

“The conference is aimed at preserving the historical and cultural heritage of the Tatar people. The focus is on two key areas: the history of settlements in the basin of the Oka, Sura and Volga rivers and the study of life, activity, creativity of outstanding Tatars – natives of the Nizhny Novgorod land,” Albert Burkhanov said.
