In the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Tatarstan in the city of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, a meeting of the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tatarstan Renat Valiullin with a journalist, director of the film “Musa Jalil. Sentenced to immortality” with Nina Prakharzh. The meeting was also attended by general director of the Information and Analytical Center “Vremya” Mikhail Chirkov, historian-local historian, writer and journalist Rakhim Telyashov, chief editor of the TV company Teleinvest Grigory Ozhegov.
At the meeting, they discussed the concept of creating a documentary – historical film “Tatars in St. Petersburg” (working title). The team of authors suggested creating a documentary – historical film about the life and work of the Tatar population of St. Petersburg from the moment it appeared on the banks of the Neva to the present day.
St. Petersburg was created as a multinational megalopolis, the Tatar community of St. Petersburg is one of the earliest, numerous, which managed to maintain their national identity. The proposed film will be an excursion into the history of the Northern capital of Peter the Great, in which representatives of the Tatar people took a great part. At the same time, viewers will take a tour of today’s Petersburg, places associated with the life and work of prominent representatives of the Tatar people – former and current residents of St. Petersburg.
This film is planned to be created by participating in a competition for a grant from the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan to support the best institutions of culture, art and cinematography.
