Baku Tatars took part in the international festival “Novruz”

One of the most holidays arrived in Azerbaijan, it is one of the most sought after holiday – Novruz. The country declared a general holiday, a day off of the week.

Baku center of the celebration is traditionally considered “the Old City” – Old Town, which is a historical and architectural reserve and included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is here eager residents and visitors come to enjoy an ancient feast of the vernal equinox. All vacation days here will be held holiday concerts and performances, exhibitions and fairs.

March 20, Representative staff attended the opening of the International Festival “Novruz” in the Old City, where they deployed colorful pavilions of Russia, Turkey, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and other countries. Beside them, craftsmen from Azerbaijan settled with the works and creations.

Holiday guests greeted the organizers and representatives of the participating countries. Among them was a counselor of the Embassy of Russia, Head of the Representation of Rossotrudnichestvo in Azerbaijan Valentin Denisov.

The Russian pavilion, organized by the Russian Information and Cultural Centre ( RICC ) in Baku and organizations of compatriots – Avar society (Chairman – Magomed Isayev ) and the Republican Society of Tatar culture ” Tugan Tel ” (Chairman – Guljan Myasoutova ) presented the costumes of Russia, exhibits goods handicrafts, souvenirs, national dishes.

Special interest of visitors caused the photo exhibition “Russia Today” and its new exhibition “Olympic Stars of Sochi”. “House of Russian Book” in Baku (Director – Israfil Ismailov) presented to the visitors the newest books in Russian, has just received from the publishers.

Here, in the pavilion, a referral service was active for those wishing to get answers to the question: “How in 2014 to enroll in the Russian universities?”

Several hundred spectators waited patiently for the beginning of the big holiday concert, consisting of items representing the culture of the peoples of Russia. It was prepared by the RICC and compatriots. Nobody remained indifferent to Avar songs and dances performed by Shamil Ali Hurmaevs, Shamsia Uruhova and Ataevs family. Songs baton after them continued the folk group “Tugan Tel ” by the soloisr Samir Chukmarov soloist in the Tatar language. And Farid Kazakov brilliantly performed Tatar dance.

Songs “Baki” and “Sari Gelin” in Azeri language was presented by students Dilara Aliyeva and Nigar Huseynov. It could help but not without dancing “Russian round dance” and “Waltz” performed by dance group “Constellation”. They were replaced by everyone’s favorite tune “Bayati – Shiraz” performed by Afaq Ismiyev . The concert performance ended Orhan Jalilova with the song ” Blue eternity”. The concert was led by Eldzhan Rakhimov.

So ended the first day of the Festival of Folk Art in Baku.
