Bolgar hosted the festival “Renaissance: epos in modern interpretation”

On 22 July the State Counselor of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the regional Revival Fund and the UNESCO Good Will Ambassador, took part in events of the international festival “Renaissance: epos in modern interpretation” , which he opened in the Bolgar Museum-Reserve a week ago.

The festival was organized by the regional Minister of Culture and the Revival Fund with participation of creative amalgamations, arts and crafts masters and designers from regions of Russia, the CIS and Middle East countries.

Mintimer Shaimiev attended the ethno-fashion show within the III Ethno-fashion festival of folk art and arts and crafts “The Lifestyle – the culture code” and watched a play “Kyys Debiliye” staged by the Olonkho Theatre from the Republic of Yakutia and which is one of the best examples of the Yakut epic tradition.

After the play, Mintimer Shaimiev handed in The Letter of Appreciation from the Revival Fund to the theatre team and thanked actors and the administration of the theatre for a wonderfully staged and performed play. “You can! Russia is a multi-national country and this is the way we must show each other our history, traditions and arts thus reviving our spiritual heritage”, the Tatarstan State Counselor said.

The Olonkho Theatre, which is the classical theatre of the Sakha, was established in Yakutsk in 2008 with the aim of preservation, study and spreading of the Yakut heroic epos and starting from 2014 it organizes a summer national holiday Ysyakh Olonkho.
